For 10 years, we have carried the name Wisconsin School of Business—a School defined not by individuals but by a tremendous partnership. How that partnership came to be and what has happened in that time were cause for celebration during this fall’s Homecoming week.
WSB alumni, friends, and donors gathered at Grainger Hall on Friday, October 20 to mark the 10th anniversary and the legacy of the groundbreaking Wisconsin Naming Gift as well as the generosity and impact of our donors.
It was at another Homecoming celebration, on October 27, 2007, where a group of UW–Madison alumni made history by creating a naming gift in honor of the state and university rather than a single donor. Instead of naming the School for perpetuity, they named it for 20 years, so that future naming gifts could impact the School for years to come.
“It’s no secret what we do—we are committed to preparing future business leaders to navigate and leverage the ever-changing economy/world/society we live in,” said Albert O. Nicholas Dean Anne P. Massey. “I am so grateful to have come to a place that is so valued and supported by its alumni and donors—as I said, you have that quality in spades here at UW.”
Speakers at the event included Michael M. Knetter, president and CEO of the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association; Page Moreau, John R. Nevin chair in marketing; Anne P. Massey, Albert O. Nicholas Dean; John J. Oros, managing director of J.C. Flowers & Co.; Ted D. Kellner, chairman and CEO of T&M Partners, LLC; and Chancellor Rebecca M. Blank. They each reflected on their involvement in the partnership’s formation and looked toward the future of WSB and the continuing impact of the Wisconsin Naming Gift.
