The mission of the Arthur Andersen Center is to promote research that is useful in resolving financial reporting and control problems and to help students understand the complexities of the changing business environment.
The center hosts conferences, publishes research monographs and working papers, and provides research funding to individuals wishing to study financial reporting and control issues that affect governmental agencies, as well as business entities. The center also supports the IMAcc and GMAcc programs by sponsoring The Future is Now conference annually.
The Arthur Andersen Center began in 1992 through gifts from alumni associated with Arthur Andersen & Co. and the Arthur Andersen Foundation. The center is governed by an academic policy committee comprised of faculty from the Accounting and Information Systems Department and an external advisory board.
Programs We Support
Integrated Master of Accountancy (IMAcc)
This program is designed for undergraduate students majoring in accounting at the Wisconsin School of Business. Integrated with the accounting curriculum, the IMAcc adds a fifth year of study, including a paid internship in the spring of the senior year. Students graduate with both a BBA degree in accounting and a Master of Accountancy.
Graduate Master of Accountancy (GMAcc)
The GMAcc is generally completed in two years, with a paid internship during the summer between years one and two. This program is ideal for students with little or no accounting background, and is open to students who are not currently pursuing an undergraduate accounting degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
PhD in Accounting
The accounting and information systems specialization has a strong track record of producing high-quality researchers and teachers. Our approach values collegiality; students work closely with faculty in an apprenticeship-type approach.
