Biography

Jirs Meuris is an Assistant Professor in the Management and Human Resources Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a courtesy appointment in Sociology. He serves as a faculty affiliate at the Institute for Diversity Science, Center for Law, Society, and Justice, and the Institute for Research on Poverty. His work sits at the intersection of human resources management and public policy focused on examining how demographic and economic inequality can affect workplace and organizational outcomes.

Jirs’ research has been published in top journals such as the Academy of Management Annals, American Sociological Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Management, Organization Science, and Research in Organizational Behavior. His work has been featured in numerous media outlets including The Atlantic, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg. He has also appeared on various radio and television programs such as NPR’s Marketplace, Wisconsin Public Radio, and WTV Live at Four.

Jirs received his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds a MPS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a BA in Criminology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
