Natalie Marinello has been an avid bibliophile from the day she was born. Sharing a birthday with both C.S. Lewis and Louisa May Alcott, growing up with a reading specialist for a mother, and being surrounded by ever-evolving stacks of books, this may have been in the cards for her. Whether nature or nurture, Natalie has had a passion for story-telling all her life, which inevitably led to a proficiency and fascination with creating shared myths able to influence a global audience; it led her to marketing.
Natalie’s professional narrative began in 2012 after earning her undergraduate degree in Marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. From there, she worked in sales with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits. After growing the off-premise business of her Indianapolis territory by 20%, Natalie was approached with an opportunity to join the on-premise key accounts team at Red Bull. Here, she was tasked with increasing brand visibility at major accounts and partnering with local market initiatives with the goal of growing brand relevance in the state of Indiana, and then later, the city of Chicago. Later, Natalie had the opportunity to work in a Channel Marketing position at Newell Brands where she developed the go-to-market strategies across the Outdoor and Recreation brand portfolio. In this position, Natalie led multiple cross-functional teams while developing programs for large retailers including the 2017 Walgreens Back to School display worth $1.1 Million. While at Newell Brands, Natalie received an opportunity to return to the beverage world with Davos Brands. This role enabled her to work with less-established brands and learn how to build the brand identity and increase equity from the ground up.
More recently, Natalie has been drawn to positions and companies with a strong emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives, as conservation becomes an increasingly important focus of her personal life. In 2018, Natalie completed the Podcast Fellowship, a 3-month long program with support from Seth Godin and Alex DiPalma, where she created a well-developed outline for a podcast exploring how urban dwellers can re-connect with nature. Other general hobbies include reading fiction literature, watching HGTV, participating in an annual summer beach volleyball league, running outside, Movie Club, listening to countless podcasts and gardening. Natalie is ecstatic about continuing her Marketing education through the MBA program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a focus in Brand and Product Management. This opportunity will help strengthen the critical thinking and leadership skills that will enable her to contribute to stories that will help change the world.
