Rebecca Schulenburg graduated in 2015 from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. After graduation, she moved to Madison to start working full-time at her family’s business, Harley-Davidson of Madison. The first position that she held at the dealership was as the Bookkeeper/Controller, where she was responsible for completing most of the financial tasks for the dealership, such as analyzing the dealership financial statements, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, processing payroll, and submitting financial data to Corporate Harley-Davidson. As a result, she gained a firm understanding of the fundamental needs of running a profitable business.
She then moved on to her most-recent position as Inventory Control Manager. During her time in this role, she was able to reduce the Parts & Accessories inventory level from $350,000 to $250,000 and increase the gross margin return on investment from 173% to 273%. She also helped reorganize the department to cut down on wasted time and reduced inventory adjustment expense by 40%. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with an MBA, she plans to take the knowledge and skills she learns and apply them to her family’s business in hopes of continuing the dealership’s success for years to come.
