Jessica Colby is an MBA candidate at the Wisconsin School of Business with a specialization in Supply Chain Management. She has an extensive background in purchasing, project management, logistics, customs compliance, and inventory management at several multinational corporations. Working with Asian, North American, and European suppliers, carriers, clients and government officials for the last 10 years, she has developed the ability to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with people of varied cultures and backgrounds.
As a logistics & customs supervisor in Black & Decker, Jessica led a cross-functional team to implement numerous cost savings and continuous improvement projects, saving the company over $1 million. She achieved Black & Decker’s Operational Excellence Award for Cost & Great People Performance twice. The considerable hands-on experience in supply chain and knowledge of import & export process allowed her to succeed in her own business on Amazon.
While working as a project manager in a fast-paced technology company, Jessica’s primary role focused on proposals for innovative solutions, development project plan and functional specifications, and directing the project team to implement high-quality projects. Exceeding stakeholder expectations earned her and her project team many positive client reviews.
In her most recent role as a purchasing manager for Pacific Cycle, she developed and executed strategic sourcing plans and managed $80 million in supply expenses. Jessica collaborated and negotiated with suppliers and helped the company stay profitable during the U.S. and China trade war by optimizing the supply base and rolling out new pricing to help increase sales revenue by 10-20%.
Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Henan University of Technology. She also possesses a number of certifications and licenses. She is excited to combine the in-depth knowledge and skills she will obtain from her Wisconsin MBA with her professional experience to someday help a company achieve the highest levels of operational excellence and efficiency along with environmental sustainability.
