Biography
Derek Christensen, CPA, obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Accountancy degrees from the University of Denver. Before entering the PhD program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he worked in advisory consulting for Deloitte (Denver). In this role, his work focused on the intersection of technical accounting and internal controls. Relying on experience from practice, Derek’s research examines how financial reporting creates operational and capital market consequences for firms by affecting (1) the information available to external capital providers, (2) information available to internal decision-makers, and (3) financial reporting incentives.
