July 25, 2016

François Ortalo-Magné, Albert O. Nicholas Dean of the Wisconsin School of Business since 2011, will depart the University of Wisconsin–Madison in summer 2017 to become Dean of London Business School.

Ortalo-Magné started at the UW–Madison in 2001 as a faculty member in the Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, becoming department chair in 2008 before becoming dean of the school in 2011.

Within business education, Ortalo-Magné is best known for leading exemplary innovations in curriculum design and delivery, and for the school’s now well-proven brand platform—Together Forward®.

“We appreciate the energy, passion and vision François has brought to his time here as dean,” says Provost Sarah Mangelsdorf. “I am grateful he will remain as dean for the coming academic year, and look forward to his continuing contributions as a leader on our campus.”

“I am most grateful for the many opportunities and all the learning that I have enjoyed at Wisconsin for the past 15 years,” says Ortalo-Magné. “I look forward to one more year of great collaborations within the school community and campus leadership, as we continue to advance UW–Madison’s impact on the world.”

A search for his successor will begin in the fall, with the goal of appointing a new dean by the time Ortalo-Magné departs for London Business School in July 2017.
