The Center for Professional and Executive Development has named Jon Kaupla, a human resources executive with 20 years of experience working in Wisconsin companies, as the new executive director of the Center for Professional & Executive Development (CPED).

Kaupla, who most recently served as vice president of human resources at CoreLogic, a Milwaukee-based global property information, analytics, and services provider, will take the helm at CPED on May 1. Kaupla previously was a senior vice president with Robert W. Baird Company, an international financial services leader, and a senior manager for learning and development with Kohl’s Corporation. He also has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee since 1998.

“I’m excited to join such a highly-regarded executive education program at the Wisconsin School of Business,” says Kaupla. “CPED delivers impactful solutions at a time when organizations, and leaders, are dealing with constant change and large-scale transitions. We have opportunities to make a real difference in organizations across the world, while continuing to elevate the success of CPED. I look forward to working with an incredible team of faculty and professionals to expand the impact of the center.”

“Jon emerged from a slate of excellent candidates,” says François Ortalo-Magné, Albert O. Nicholas Dean of the Wisconsin School of Business. “We were drawn to him because of his talent and expertise as a creator of professional and executive learning experiences and as a buyer of such learning experiences on behalf of various organizations. We are delighted to have him lead the team.”

As executive director of CPED, Kaupla will be charged with growing the professional and executive curriculum offerings of the organization, setting the strategic direction of CPED, overseeing sales and marketing efforts, and managing curriculum design, delivery, and related operations. Kaupla will also play an active role in helping CPED acquire new clients while managing ongoing relationships.

CPED offers a wide variety of options for working professionals—courses and certificates in the areas of management & leadership, business analysis, Lean Six Sigma, project management, and supply chain; custom programs designed to help businesses meet specific learning needs to enhance performance; and coaching and assessment programs to resolve specific business challenges. CPED also offers programs on cultivating well-being in the workplace and health care leadership development.

Kaupla will succeed Steve King, as executive director of CPED. King will retain some administrative functions until January 2018 to assist with the transition.
