Craig Thompson has been named a 2017 Association for Consumer Research Fellow.

Thompson’s research includes examining consumer identity in relationship to the marketplace, how class and gender shape consumer preferences and behavior, and the influences market systems exert over consumer choice and lifestyle.

He has been awarded the 2013 Erwin A. Gaumnitz Distinguished Faculty Research Award by the Wisconsin School of Business, and the 2014 Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award by the Society for Marketing Advances.

“We are all very proud of Craig,” says Tom O’Guinn, chair of the marketing department at the Wisconsin School of Business. “This is a great honor; ACR Fellows make up a small and elite club.”

Thompson is one of three individuals selected internationally for the honor by the ACR, an organization dedicated to advancing consumer behavior research and information sharing.

Thompson will speak at the group’s annual meeting in San Diego in October 2017.
