You can pursue a Ph.D. in one of eight areas of study, or specializations, at the Wisconsin School of Business. All graduates earn a Ph.D. in business from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with the exception of those pursuing the joint degree in finance (business) and economics; students specializing in this area are admitted to both the Wisconsin School of Business and the economics department at UW–Madison.

Comprehensive Academic Preparation

Each area of study has specific academic requirements. In addition, every Ph.D. graduate meets the general academic requirements of the UW–Madison Graduate School.
