Roger Ervin Sr. has achieved outstanding career success, building his expertise over nearly 30 years in government, academia, and the private sector. He has worked with an array of impressive for-profit and nonprofit organizations and served two U.S. presidential administrations. He brings this rich and inspiring breadth of experience to the classroom.

Ervin weaves together academic research, his C-suite experience, and his prominent government roles for a comprehensive teaching approach. His prolific background enables students to become more effective and productive immediately at managing the everyday challenges within their organizations. Teaching examples draw on experiences like his service as an economic policy advisor for then-U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and as a senior diplomat in the U.S. Department of State in the Clinton administration.
Continuing to make an impact
Ervin is continuing to make his mark globally as president and CEO of International Relief and Development at Bluemont, Inc., a nonprofit that delivers shelter and food and nonfood humanitarian aid to refugees and displaced persons impacted by political and climate crises. In addition to lecturing in the Wisconsin Evening and Executive programs, Ervin shares his expertise by teaching public sector management in the UW–Madison Department of Political Science.
Ervin holds a bachelor of science degree from Tulane University and a Wisconsin Executive MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His consulting career, in which he advised Fortune 500 businesses on risk management practices in overseas operations, is a testimony to the many career directions possible with skills gained in the Wisconsin Evening and Executive MBA programs.
