University of Wisconsin‑Madison, Wisconsin School of Business
Graduation Year: 2020
Current Job: Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer, US Navy

The Wisconsin Evening MBA Program was a perfect match for my aspirations and personality. As my submarine commitment was ending, I knew I wanted to learn as much as I could about business. The Navy has given me great experiences with leadership and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology. I wanted to continue my studies and learn something new that I could couple with my engineering background.

I knew I had to expand my knowledge of business to meet the needs of a competitive civilian sector. I have one more year of military service, and UW–Madison has been instrumental in preparing me as a Business Badger for the transition. The MBA program has made me confident in my ability to adapt to the future and changing careers.

Staff and faculty are very accommodating when it comes to maintaining a work-school balance. It is a demanding curriculum, but they understand the importance of your career and family. My wife is in the Wisconsin Full-Time MBA Program and we both love being MBA students here. We’re able to maintain a healthy life balance.

The Wisconsin Evening MBA Program staff presents out-of-the-classroom opportunities for you to expand your knowledge. They bring in accomplished leaders and CEOs for talks and business events. Staff will also help you with interview skills, résumé building, academic studies, and networking.

Wisconsin Evening MBA students are humble, confident, possess a strong work ethic, and are dedicated to teamwork. There is a great mixture of expertise in my class with marketers, accountants, engineers, sales people, real estate professionals, and entrepreneurs. The diversity of professions expands everyone’s knowledge. I have learned a lot from my colleagues and from the unique experiences they encounter.

The tight-knit community makes it exciting to attend class every week. Our global trip in 2019 will be to South Africa and Botswana, and everyone in class is already talking about extending as a group to a safari. The comradery is amazing and adds to the experience of an MBA from UW–Madison.
