Strong leaders are adept at solving problems creatively, influencing and leading, managing under pressure, and thinking beyond their own personal gain for the greater good. Today’s employers seek out individuals who demonstrate these qualities.

Through the Leadership Catalyst program, the Wisconsin MBA Program invites you to explore the meaning of leadership and develop new skills in the three critical areas of individual, team, and organizational leadership. Programming is based on a blend of servant leadership and transformational leadership theory.

Explore the Many Dimensions of Leadership

The heart of Leadership Catalyst is a series of workshops and seminars, delivered over the course of two intensive week-long sessions in the first year of the MBA program. This approach weaves leadership, career, and communication topics into the program, complementing the curriculum and providing you with professional skills that will increase your effectiveness throughout your career.

Examples of workshop and seminar topics include the following:

  • Negotiation skills
  • Developing cultural dexterity
  • Communicating effectively in PowerPoint
  • Innovation and future trends (entrepreneurship)
  • Building a strategic plan for your career
  • Developing a strong emotional intelligence (EQ)
  • Non-profit board leadership
  • Unconscious bias
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Building and using alumni networks
  • Mastering matrix leadership

While all first-year MBA students participate in foundational Leadership Catalyst programming, you will also have the flexibility to build your own personalized leadership development plan by choosing from a variety of workshops and seminars.

"The values of servant leadership—putting others first and leading from the heart—need to emerge from every corner of American life, including the business community."

—Howard Schultz
Chairman and CEO, Starbucks
