Transfer Students

The Wisconsin BBA Program welcomes applications from interested students who would be transferring from another college or university. The right admissions pathway for you is based on where you are currently enrolled.

If you are currently attending a school in the University of Wisconsin system or the Wisconsin Technical College System, you are eligible to apply directly to the Wisconsin BBA Program through the pre-business process.

If you are currently attending a private college or university in Wisconsin, or any other college or university outside the State of Wisconsin, you will need to complete a minimum of 12 in-residence credits at the University of Wisconsin–Madison before you can apply to the Wisconsin School of Business. To obtain these in-residence credits, you would apply to UW–Madison first, and then apply to the Wisconsin School of Business in the spring semester.

Your Journey to Admission as a Transfer Student

Here are the steps you should follow if you would like to apply for admission to UW–Madison and the Wisconsin School of Business as a transfer student.

  1. Find out how to qualify. You must meet specific course and credit requirements by the end of the spring semester in which you apply to the Wisconsin School of Business.
  2. Check the key admission dates that apply to admission as a transfer student.
  3. Review the application requirements in advance, so that you will be prepared to apply when the time comes.
  4. Learn more by attending one or more admission events. A Transfer Student Visit Day will introduce you to UW–Madison, the Wisconsin School of Business, and the transfer process. You are also welcome to attend an information session hosted by the Wisconsin BBA Program, or schedule an individualized family visit with a BBA Student Ambassador.
  5. You may have specific questions related to transfer admission and transfer credits. We encourage you to meet with a UW–Madison admission counselor. If you have transfer questions that are specific to the Wisconsin BBA Program, please contact a pre-business admission advisor.
  6. When you are ready, complete an online application for admission using whichever pathway is right for you. If you are applying to UW–Madison as a transfer student, please observe the application deadline for that process. If you applying directly to the Wisconsin BBA Program in the spring semester of your first year, please be sure to submit your application before the application deadline.
